Drug Busts on Border

LAREDO, Tx.- Border Patrol agents in Hebbronville seize more than 3,000 lbs of marijuana. Agents working at the checkpoint on highways 359 performed an immigration inspection on the driver of a tractor-trailer.

During the inspection a canine alerted to hidden contraband. Agents searched the cargo and found 201 bundles containing marijuana inside three wooden crates of cargo in the trailer.

A total of 3,625 lbs. of marijuana was recovered. The drugs are estimated to be worth $2.9 million. The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

More than four million dollars worth of cocaine is seized at one of Laredo’s ports of entry. It happened yesterday at the world trade bridge when officers sent a 2008 ford 350.

Driven by a thirty nine year old man from Nuevo Laredo in for secondary inspection. About thirty bundles holding 148 pounds of cocaine were found stashed inside with an estimated value of $4.7 million.

The drugs and truck were seized and the driver was turned over to ICE agents for further investigation.
