Some Minnesota high school students decided to abandon snow blizzards for a southwest field trip to sunny Laredo, Texas on Tuesday.

Escaping several feet of snow and soaking up the warm Laredo sun yesterday was a tour group from Minnesota that arrived in Laredo Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2010 to begin a whirlwind South Texas tour.

Twenty two Lanesboro High School students and their chaperones had just finished an overnight stay at La Posada Hotel and their lunch at El Meson de San Agustin when they were welcomed by Mayor Raul G. Salinas at San Agustin Plaza around noon.

The students took a tour of City Hall and were guided by City Secretary Gustavo Guevara, greeted by Deputy City Manager Cynthia Collazo and even got some time to shop in downtown Laredo before getting back on the road just past noon.
