The event is organized by the local government, together with the Laredo Center for the Arts, a local hotel, the Main Streets group and the Mexican Consulate General in Laredo.
Xóchitl Mora García, the City of Laredo's spokesperson, mentioned that the deadline to register for the parade is December 2 nd , until 5:00 pm and the person in charge of the registration is Anita Stanley, who can be contacted at the following number: (956) 794-1760.
The Christmas parade will be celebrated on December 5, starting at 5:00 pm at Houston and Flores' streets, outside City Hall, in order to go around San Pedro plaza and to be able to conclude at the Mercadito Plaza, in the downtown area.
It is here where the traditional annual lighting of the giant Christmas tree in the city takes place, which his done by the local authorities, as a symbol of the season's spirit in this time of the year.
The festival will include music, traditional one and Christmas music as well; they will serve Mexican 'antojitos', and the main highlight of the event will be the arrival of Santa's sleigh, which will be driven by Mayor Raul Salinas and Santa Clause himself.
"This event will officially announce the beginning of the Christmas Seaton in our city, and we hope that most of the community participates," Mayor Salinas mentioned.
He invited corporations, businesses, associations, clubs, schools and even individuals to register their vehicles so they can participate in the parade.
