According to reports, Zamora drove a 2005 Peterbilt tractor with Florida plates, that carried a cargo of Mexican chocolate in a closed container.
When he arrived to the inspection booth on mile 29 of highway 35, Zamora mentioned he had nothing to declare, until a trained canine detected something that alerted the border patrol agents.
When the sealed container was opened, they found pallets full of chocolate and hidden in between those packages were 16 undocumented immigrants from Mexico.
Amongst these illegal immigrants there were three minors, a 14 year old, an 11 year old and another 5 year old. Fortunately, they had only been traveling back there for a little while so they needed no medical attention.
Upon being interrogated, they confessed to have made a deal with a stranger on Santa María Avenue, behind a Wal-Mart. The foreigners declared that they were going to pay about 2 and 3 thousand dollars to be transported to the United States and how they were hidden in a hotel in Laredo before being taken to the interior.
