This year's event will feature over 40 musical performances including the Grammy Award winning Texas Tornados and Laredo's very own Pete Astudillio y Ruido Anejo.
Jamboozie's headliners will be featured on the Budweiser main stage at the San Agustin parking lot, beginning at 8:00 pm
The UETA stage at Hidalgo and San Agustine, will feature Jazz from Joe Guerra, Ric Cortez and Hibriduz and Acropolis and Anahary from Honduras beginning at 5:00 p.m.
"Since its inception in 1997, Jamboozie has grown tremendously with the community's support," said Sandra Taylor Executive Director of Laredo Main Street.
Jamboozie, a festival in the tradition of Mardi Gras, was organized to raise money for Laredo Main Street whose mission is to preserve the downtown heritage by fostering community pride and involvement, stimulating diverse business and residential development . Some of their recent activities include the El Centro de Laredo Farmer’s Market and the Small Business Summit.
The public is invited to this one day event which will be held Saturday, January 29, beginning with a parade Mardi Gras style complete with beads, bright colored costumes and music.
The parade will begin at 8 p.m. at the corner of Iturbide and San Agustin and will wind through the festival grounds ending again at Iturbide.
"We will have performances at 6 stages which will be set up throughout downtown to give the public a wide variety of musical entertainment," said Sandra Lopez, entertainment chair.
"There are still many more artists wanting to perform and we may be looking at adding a 7th stage in the future," she added.
“In addition to the musical entertainment, there will be a large selection of food for celebrants to partake in,” Taylor said. “There will be Cajun, and Asian food to add some variety this year.”
Tickets are $7.00 presale and $10.00 at the door. Tickets are available at all UETA locations, most IBC locations, La Paletera at HEB Plus and Saunders locations, 2 Far Gone Tattoos on Hillside Rd., Lazy Daze on the Loop and TJ’s Western Grill downtown.
