Laredo , Texas Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo West Station seized 55.1 pounds of cocaine, 2.46 pounds of methamphetamine and $6,000 dollars in U.S.

Currency at the Checkpoint on US HWY 83.

On March 29, 2011, Agents assigned to checkpoint duties at the US HWY 83 Checkpoint were conducting an immigration inspection of a driver of an Ford F250 when a service K-9 alerted for possible hidden people or contraband.

As agents conducted a secondary inspection of the truck; agents discovered the narcotics concealed in the spare tire. The currency was found in a black bag on the front seat.

The cocaine has an estimated street value of $1.7 million and the methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $78,720.00.

The subject, narcotics, currency and vehicle were turned over to DEA.
