LAREDO, TX. - The Constable Rodolfo "Rudy" Rodriguez said 10 of these units were approved by Commissioners Court and 9 more will be financed with federal funds obtained from the Stonegarden operation.

"We will give $1.2 million for the purchase of these units and to buy radios, vests and guns for the officers and even two trucks," he said.

Rodriguez mentioned that in hisdepartment there are various patrol cars that have more than 120 thousand miles on them and they need to be replaced as soon as possible.

"It is also very important to receive equipment such as vests and weapons so that officers can do a better job of protecting the community," he said.

The Department of Constable Rodriguez has 28 deputies in charge of patrolling a vast area of the county, monitoring school zones and will now incorporate drug squads and other operations.
