LAREDO, TX. - The mayor of El Cenizo, Raul Reyes, confirmed that the Commissioners Court received the design of the public library to be built for the benefit of children and youth.
Architect Eddie Quiroga, presented the project who proposes to construct the building near the Community Center of El Cenizo, to begin forming a central infrastructure where people can meet.
"It is a work that we have waited for many years and it will finally be realized. We received a lot of support from Commissioner Frank Sciaraffa, who decided to have sufficient funds to build it in one swoop rather than doing it in phases," said Reyes.
The construction will cost half a million dollars and the building will include space for about seven thousand books, a study and a computer room, restrooms and parking.
"The idea is that the town of El Cenizo benefits from this project as well as the people from Rio Grande. We have many young people in these two communities that can take advantage of this library," he said.
He stressed that with this construction, the residents of these towns will have the same opportunities as the students from Laredo with a modern library, well equipped to fulfill their duties.
Reyes stressed that in the next few weeks they will begin to solicit proposals from companies interested in building and after choosing the best qualified, they will begin the work to be completed in early 2013.
