The stage curtains will open one last time this month at Laredo Community College, as the Summer Stock Theater Project presents its third and final show of its live theater series, Extremities, at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater.

The searing thriller from noted playwright and screenwriter William Mastrosimone will be shown Thursday, June 28 through Saturday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 1 at 3 p.m.

Laurence Wensel, director of the college production, expects audience members to be moved by the play’s powerful message. “Extremities is a story of survival and resilience.

The subject of sexual assault is a very sensitive topic, and unfortunately, a universal one as well. The play focuses on a victim’s reactions to an assault and it poses questions about the nature of the aggression and what comes next.

This is a very powerful play with a strong theme that will leave the audience talking long after the final act.” The play has enjoyed worldwide acclaim and has even been adapted into a successful motion picture starring Farrah Fawcett.

With its gut-wrenching plot and array of raw emotions, Extremities is certain to offer theater buffs an unforgettable experience Extremities will be the last show of a three-part series of critically acclaimed stage performances produced by the LCC Summer Stock Theater Project.

General admission for the event is $7 and $5 for students. For more information about the Summer Stock Theater Project, call the LCC Fine Arts Center office at 721- 5334. CUTLINE:
