Firefighters premiere new building

LAREDO, TX. – On Monday, July 16, the administrative offices of the Laredo Fire Department were relocated to the new building located in the northern part of the city.

Captain and spokesman from the Fire Department, Eloy Vega said that the offices of the division of fire prevention will also be located at the new building located at 616 East Del Mar.

Vega stressed that the new administrative building will be occupied but the formal opening ceremony will not be held until September 11, as part of a special celebration..

The building of 8.5 million, funded with GO bonds will be the new face of the Fire Department and will consolidate all administrative offices in one place.

"This work will allow more space in substations to devote to the work of firefighters," he said.

The construction of the 40,000 square foot building began in early 2011 by Leyendecker Construction Company.

These offices will concentrate all administrative functions of the Fire Department and also used as a school with special classes.

The new telephone numbers of the administrative offices are (956) 718-6000 and (956) 718-6001, while the emergency number still remains as 911. The number of the fire prevention division is now (956) 718-6067, which also houses the office of the Fire Marshall.
