LAREDO, TX – As agents were patrolling the area, they noticed a Dodge truck hauling bags of industrial lime. The vehicle came to a stop and the agents approached the driver while engaging in casual conversation.

A service canine arrived on the scene and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

The driver and the truck were transported to Laredo West Station for a closer inspection of the vehicle. The agents discovered a false compartment and discovered 45 bundles of a substance that tested positive as marijuana.

The drug has an estimated street value of $835,280. The marijuana, subject, and truck were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The driver was subsequently released by DEA, pending an investigation.

The drug cartels need to be stopped. If marijuana were legal and taxed at 20% this would have generated $167,056 not to mention the sales tax at the point of sale as well as the payroll taxes of all the workers involved.

Criminals don't pay taxes. All prohibition has done is give criminals a giant gift with a bow on top.
