LAREDO, TX. - The Environmental Protection Agency, Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) and the North American Development Bank (NADB) recently announced they will fund two projects impacting Nuevo Laredo and the Rio Grande.

First, the EPA will fund $2.8 million of a $5 million project to disconnect wastewater lines from storm drains in Nuevo Laredo.

The disconnection of lines will eliminate untreated wastewater discharge into the Rio Grande – resulting in cleaner water for both Laredo and Nuevo Laredo residents.

A $13.3 million loan from BECC-NADB will partially fund a $35.5 million project to improve the City of Nuevo Laredo’s waste and wastewater system, construct storm water lines and pave and improve roads.

These improvements will lessen traffic congestions and pollution in Nuevo Laredo, important to the continuation of high trade volume with cities such as Laredo.
