Mayor gives keys to the city to Don Francisco

LAREDO, TEXAS - The Spanish-language television network, Univision invited Salinas to Miami, Florida to record a program commemorating 50 years of Don Francisco’s artistic life and the creator of the show Sabado Gigante.

"It was a very positive experience, I had a very good conversation with Don Francisco who has happy memories of Laredo since he was once named Mr. International from the Washington Birthday Celebration parties,” said Salinas.

During the program, Salinas handed over the keys of the city to Don Francisco, who appreciated the gesture and sent a very affectionate greeting to Laredoans.

"I think it's fair to recognize the journey of a character like Don Francisco, who has put a high name of Hispanics and has devoted 50 years to promote Latinos,” said the official.

Currently, Sabado Gigante airs in 43 countries with a viewer ship of over 100 million people.

The program recorded in Miami, Florida, will air tonight at 7 p.m. on KLDO. Salinas called on the whole community to enjoy watching this show
