During the work session of this Monday, the Commissioners will set a date to interview the three final candidates for such an important position.

Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina, Commissioner of Precinct Two, mentioned that the three finalists are Javier Martinez, Ramiro Martinez and Mary Nell Sanchez, all of them with excellent skills to fill this position.

In the last Commissioners meeting Tijerina and Sergio Martinez proposed Javier Martinez as the following Director of the Community Action Agency, since he has already been the interim director for six months.

"Plus he is the only one that has the necessary experience to request state and federal funds, one of the most important responsibilities of the Community Action Agency's Director," Tijerina pointed out.

However, Commissioner Jerry Garza proposed they interviewed all three finalists for the job, and based on that make a decision.

The Community Action Agency is a very important office, because it manages all the county's community centers, which give health, nutrition and recreation services to many elderly.

The agency also handles all the repair and reconstruction programs of bad stage housing, as well as weatherization and energy assistance programs, and looks for economic support to pay all the electric and gas bills.
