Assistance Offered on Tax Returns

LAREDO, Tx.- The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) appealed to people that need assistance in completing their tax returns, so they may request the support from a free program.

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, is offering free orientations in filling tax return forms.

The program is focused on helping people of low and moderate income, with disabilities, for those whom do not speak English and for seniors who need help in this procedure.

People may attend the program at the main library on 1120 Calton Road from 9:00am-12:00pm on Fridays and from 9:00am- 1:00pm on Saturday until April 10th.

The library at the Bruni plaza, located on 1120 San Bernardo, the service will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm-7:00 and Saturdays from 10:00am-12:00pm until April 10th.

At the Cigarroa Recreational Center, located on 2600 Palo Blanco, will be available Wednesdays from 4:00pm-7:00, from January 27th until April 7th.

There will be orientation at Martin High School on 2002 San Bernardo, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm-7:30 until April 7th.

The Goodwill Industries on 5901 San Darío, will offer assistance Tuesdays and Thursdays form 5:00pm-8:00 and Saturdays from 11:00am-2:00pm until April 10th.

Orientation will also be given at Alexander High on 3600 East Del Mar, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00pm-8:00 and Saturadays from 1:00pm - 4:00 until April 10th.

People must take their W-2 form, the 1099, information about other incomes, of all the deductions and credits, copies of their file from the previous year, their social security card and those dependants or spouse, an identification with a personal picture and one of the spouse.
