Laredo Family Receives Home Improvements

LAREDO, Tx.- The Ruiz family spent lots of money just to enjoy their air conditioning or heating and sometimes suffered because there was not enough money to pay the light bills.

Now, thanks to a generous program from a private power company, they received home improvements that will enable them to have significant savings in their electricity consumption.

"We are very pleased to have received a new central air unit, a refrigerator, and insulated our home and gave us light bulbs that save electricity, this will allow enjoy our home better and pay much less," Francis Ruiz declared with a big smile on his face .

The AEP company in Laredo is represented by Olga Maldonado, who gave a fund of 739,406 dollars to establish a program that improves public housing complex's at Jose Flores where 146 families reside.

The resources were given to the Municipal Housing Corporation as part of an effort to consume less electricity and simultaneously help the environment and help families stress less when they pay their bills every month.

The program focuses on low-income families who use public housing and require assistance, so that their homes have the proper insulation in order to save on their electricity bill.

As part of the program, households will receive central air units certified to save electricity, solar screens to bring light in the windows, insulation on the roofs, certified refrigerators and bulbs that save electricity.
